Like many aspiring professionals, Lizo started his career at amateur level, turning out for amongst other teams Remember FC and Early Birds FC. But, his career started to shape up when he joined Jomo Cosmos youth development academy and later promoted to the first team where he eventually made his PSL debut in 2004.
However, after some time with Ezenkosi, Mjempu was loaned out PJ Stars in the National First Division, and after his loan spell-he signed a permanent contract with the team.
The Queenstown-born left back found himself on the move again when his defensive abilities attracted interest of Mpumalanga Black Aces, but he didn’t stay that long with Amazayoni as he rejoined PJ Stars (under a new name M. Tigers) still in the NFD league.
